Roman Polanski belongs in prison, but …

… it raises some questions:

What difference does it make how old he was at the time? He drugged and raped someone after she refused him sex. The emphasis on his age is pure, insidious ageism. Whether he was 42, or if he had been 22, it was rape – real rape. In fact, it would have been just as wrong for him to drug and fuck and girl who had refused him sex if he was 12.

And what difference does it make how old she was at the time? 48 days in jail is not enough of a sentence for real rape of anyone of any age, nor is living a life of luxury in France as a famous film director.

Why are people giving credence to the argument that the prosecutor thought it was wrong that the judge refused the plea deal? Prosecutors hate when judges reject plea deals. As much as prosecutors like to pretend they are gung-ho about prosecuting so they themselves can become judges one day, when a judge rejects a plea deal, it means the prosecutor has to work harder for the same pay. Don’t listen to the prosecutor - you can safely assume he’s full of it.

And why am I in the position of having to be a voice of reason on this issue? How can there actually even be a debate over whether he should be extradited? If it wasn’t a debate, I wouldn’t have to speak up, but because there’s a debate, if I don’t speak up, people will assume on the wrong side of the debate. The guy raped someone – not a Dworkin-all-sex-is-rape, not a guy-makes-believe-he’s-Derek Jeter technical (in some states) rape, not even a girl-is-drunk-but-says-she-wants-it non-rape rape, but a real rape with attendant refusal of sex and intentional drugging. And the victim was only 13 (OK, I contradicted myself).

When I wrote my recent post “Murder and Mayhem” just days ago, I fully intended to cheapen a lot of what is considered the crime of rape – I didn’t mean to cheapen rape this much. Have I already become too influential such that people are taking my ideas and doing them “one better?” Or has the country become so liberal of late that I have fallen a step behind?

Fuck Roman Polanski. Let him film his own ass getting fucked in San Quentin. It’ll be his final cinematic masterpiece.
